“Wait”
When one act of justice is possibly on its way
Another black man will never see the light of day
We pray and wait for a glimpse of justice
Waiting for those in power to care about this
2 years too long ; Murder cops will be put on trial
But its 4 years later for another brutality victim;
except those cops have no more charges for manslaughter
A Small act of good arises
In the continuing fight to stop racial biases
To think the system might for once do it right.
Wrong.
So easy to give up hope, you’re shot down as you prevail
Your Fight- my fight, I’m beside you as we embark to serve justice and what that entails
But Whites speak for the oppressed when it’s convenient
And then forget all about it because white skin doesnt cost the life of an innocent
And is the innocent not my Neighbors and friends
No one can justify for someone to think, am I going to be next?
To wait and wait to see some justice served
How long until black voices will be truly heard ?
The fights not over.
